The fastest transatlantic W to E by a sail boat: Ambrose Light – Lizard Point a distance of 2925 nautical miles done in July of this year.  It was on a boat called Groupama 3, skippered by Franck Cammas, He did the trip in 4 days, 3 hours, 57 minutes and 54 seconds for an average speed of 29.26 kts.

    The Destriero, an Italian powerboat, shaved 31 hours off the old trans-Atlantic speed record recently, It did it in 48 hours 34 minutes between Sandy Hook and Bishop Rock
