I put to much fertilizer on my lawn and now I have a few patches that are burned. I used Sta Green and my yard is needing to be treated ASAP. Any ideas?

  1. I'd put in sod... After watering it down a bit to get the fertilizer out. I'm just throwing this out there, and it might sound crazy, but I'd poor milk on it. I think it might stabilize it... Like I said, throwing it out there.

  2. try rye or wheat grass, it will fill in temporarily pretty well, but is actually greener and finer than regular grass. It does grow pretty fast though.

Depending on where you live, it may or may not have a hard time growing. It doesn't like the heat much.

  3. dillute the fertilizer with lots of water. now resead the burned spots.

  4. Go get some grass called landscapers or Contractors mix. Also buy a back of peat moss and some bagged top soil. Take 4 shovels of peat moss to a wheelbarrow full of topsoil- add 2 quarts of grass seed and mix it up good with a shovel.

Now rake out the dead spots off old dead grass-take your shovel and put some 2" deep shovel slits in the ground. Water thoroughly.

Now apply the mix you made in the wheelbarrow. Compress the soil with your foot or a roller, then water - don't flood or seed will float out, just keep damp. Water once in am and once in the evening. You want a good soaking watering so the ground can soak it up, just don't flood it. This mix has some quick germinating grass (rye grass) and some slower germinating fescue and bluegrass, The trick is to keep it moist.
