  1. hippoitius?

  2. hippopotophobia

    hippo=horse

    poto=of the water, 'aquatic' or river

    you'd have to say the whole 'hippopoto' part otherwise it'd be fear of horses or rivers

  3. In most places, it'd be termed pointless.  Near places where hippos actually live, it'd be sensible.  Of all vertebrates in Africa, other than people, hippos happen to cause the most human deaths.

  4. Well, zoophobia is a fear of animals.

    Could also be Megalophobia...fear of large things.

    Its also common sense.

  5. Well, hippophobia is the fear of horses. So it's not that. And Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia is the fear of long words. The fear of hippos is actually undetermined as of yet.

  6. It's called common sense. You don't want to mess around with these bad tempered beasts!

    But I do understand your dilemma.

    Hippophobia is the fear of horses (although hippo means 'river horse'). Hippopottomonstrosesquippedaliphobia is the fear of long words.

    So where does that leave the fear of hippos? I think I'd revert to my first answer....
