That question seems simple, but there is no simple answer. You already have answers here from atheists who do not believe he exists....

my response as a christian and a mormon, is... God loves us no matter what we do, or who we are. He may not like everything we do, but he loves us. Sometimes he gives us harsh lessons in life, but he loves us. It's how we stand up in opposition and adversity that matters. He loves us. God is love.

I know many people will not agree with this statement; that is their right. As it is my right to express my opinion.

The truth is that Jesus is God, and He loves us  :)

Also, that the only way to get into heaven, is by believing that Jesus died for our sins on the cross and rose from the dead.

I think that the God belief exists so that our perceptions might possibly transcend the bounds of anthropocentric thinking. But, therein lies a paradox!

Perhaps the human mind needs to revere and contemplate a higher order, one more significant than ourselves. I think it is healthy to entertain the concept, but to act in ways that are detrimental to others because of this God belief is completely counterproductive. Why can't we say "we do not know"?

That GOD is a man-made invention & the belief & concepts of such can be dangerous in the wrong hands.

With that said, we should be able to enjoy bible storys like any other fairy tales.

That fairy tales, while totally amusing, are not to be taken seriously.  Oops!...I guess that's the one lesson they forget to teach!!!

Why is it that questions like this one always get tons of feedback, while my question regarding laundry gets only a few?  Maybe someone wants to help me??

The most important thing to know about God is that He is love and that He loves you. Everything else you can learn along the way.

Who he is. You will quickly find that He knows and loves you personally and that He died for you so that you can know Him. Start with the book of John in the Bible to get to know Jesus. Second, I would suggest moving on to 1 John. From there, Acts and Hebrews are good. No matter where you start, you can't go wrong.

The first thing is that He loves you and He is your Father. He is all knowing and can see a bigger plan for you. Life is eternal and this life is temporary. He sent you here to gain a body and to gain experience which will help you in the next life. You are not an accident or a mistake- you are the spirit child of infinite value.
