What is the format for writing a good search quary;ie:when do you use \ or/ or .s Thanks, Mark?

Er... I'm a traitor and use google instead...  I try to type in what people would think to put in the description of their site.  For example if i'm trying to find things about Apple computers that people don't like, i'm not going to look on the apple webpage, because they will just say the good things.  so i might type in

apple computer i hated it

or something

If i don't know what format to put stuff in, i use advanced search.
