could someone explain in detail how the calculations are done for computing how fast a styrofoam block with lift force of 100kg (220lbs) with rise if submerged at 10 meters (33ft). the block dimensions are H 100cm x W 10 cm x L 50 cm. the area of the side that will be directed upward is 500 cm^2.

  1. This is not a straight forward calculation. The drag on a sphere has been approximated by numerical fluid simulations, but even then, it is not something you can't just scribble up with pen and paper.
