What is the foul rotten odor coming from my circuit box?

lights were flickering in the house, soon after i vaccuumed & i blew a fuse. i flicked the switch & noticed immediatly after a fowl odor like p**p or rotten fish, does this have anything to do with my circuit box.

Something definately failed in there. If it is daytime switch off the main breaker outside if there is one and open the box to inspect. A lot of failures come as a result of burnt wires because of loose connections. You'll see it quickly. If a circuit breaker or fuse holder burnt, you can replace or clean the fuse holder.

I'd certainly get it checked and if I were you I'd do it fast. If you don't know how to do it I recommend that you find an electrician to check it.

Don't mess with the box as mistakes can be fatal.

But electrical fires can be fatal too so don't waste any time. In some localities the fire department can even check them for you.

Sounds like a meltdown. Best get an electrician to check it and be ready to get it repaired. If it's deemed unsafe (fire risk) you could have your power shut off.
