  1. no. of kilometer travelled.( pls make sure that even this figure is right)./(total fuel consumed( inflated government figure due to corrution) - fuel pilferage ( by godown keepers) - wastage (by stock handlers) .)= mileage of loc. train

  2. What year, make, model and hours used  locomtive are you talking about?

  3. THe only engine I'm aware of that uses 2liters/hr is a backup generator engine that has about enough horsepower to charge a large battery and not much else.  According to this page:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_loco...

the engine in a WDM-2 is about 1000 times as big.

The mileage depends on train size and terrain.  Where I work, in mountainous New England, a two-engine train of 6,000 tons will get about .33 MPG (you can convert to litres if you like), but that is extreme.

  4. a WDM -2 engine in general consumes 2lt/hour on idling and upto 48lt/km (or Hour - i'm not sure) depending on load and speed.

  5. 30 litre per hour in idle condition and 60 to 90 lph ( not litre per km ) in normal running condition, depending on load being hauled.
