  4. It all depends on the field. As the AFL uses cricket pitches, all are a different size.

    For example, the SCG in Sydney is about 150m long, while Marrara oval (occasionally used for friendly matches) is close to 185m long.

    The AFL Laws of the game state in part 3.2 a):

    The Playing Surface shall be:

    (i) oval in shape;

    (ii) between 135 metres and 185 metres in length; and

    (iii) between 110 metres and 155 metres in width.

    Basically, you're looking at a distance of anywhere from 400m to 700m or so, depending on the field. I know my local oval is exactly 400m around...
