  1. CNC = Computer Numerical Control

Cannot explain it better than the way wikipedia explains so instead of writing everything all over again, I have just copied and paste their description for your and my convenience.

below is a quote of their description

"refers specifically to a computer "controller" that reads G-code instructions and drives a machine tool, a powered mechanical device typically used to fabricate components by the selective removal of material. CNC does numerically directed interpolation of a cutting tool in the work envelope of a machine. The operating parameters of the CNC can be altered via a software load program."

  4. Those answers are right. It is a machine controlled by computer. Why?,because many machanical parts need high resolution but less product time,so, that kind of machine is very suit for doing that.I ever used it (lathe machine). We just plane how to produce ( process step),create program, put it in controller, test and run production.

But please beware,if you careless testing,it will crash. And that makes you in troubles with your manager since some expensive part may damaged and need to be change.

Anyway,I recommend if you have any chance, learn it,try it.It will be useful because that machine are used all over the world.
