What is the function of British Anti-Americanism Towards the Yanks?

Speaking to you from the states here.....

There is a premise, that all behavior has meaning. Even schizophrenic or inappropriate behaviors.

What then, would you suggest, is the function or reason behind the mean spirited and vituperative vomit that routinely get posted not only in Y!A UK/Ireland (what Schottland and Wales don't count?) but on the American site, as well.

You know we're no better or worse, and had England still an empire what excesses could we expect then?

There's a saying in the States, possibly of English origin: "nobody is a good or bad as they're made out to be." It's sad to see a great culture used as a pawn for agendas that won't necessarily be celebratory of the Anglo-Saxon culture.

Don't feel hurt. YA is full of vituperation towards groups alien to some posters. Brits, Atheists, Catholics, Americans, Blacks, Eastern Europeans, to name but a few. Wouldn't you feel left out if Americans weren't included?

The function? People (not just English) are anti-American because they do not agree with the way your government handles situations or conflicts. Some people take this out on the American people as they believe the government got their because the people voted them in. Other people just think it is cool to dis-like Americans

Also Y!A tends not to be who answered best buy quickest and in the most volume.

The function? Just ANYTHING to make their royal self-hating dumb asses feel better about their puny pathetic existences.(Ireland is at the very bottom of the barrel)

Most Brits I know do not hate the US. There is a competitive edge between our nations and it is only fools who go over the top into ignorant bigotry and abuse. We think that you Yanks are like big playful puppies, you want to be liked and are hurt when you are abused in print. You can get loud and a tad obnoxious when abroad, it does your county no favours if you march around as if the world is yours. Other than that, it really is not your contry we hate, or you either, it is your foreign policy we hate.

Maybe you don't much like it either?
