What is the function of a rats spleen?

im doing a biology assignment and i have to link why a rats spleen is so much bigger than a toads, as a rat is a mammal and a toad is an amphibian.

that would be a great help, as ive searched for so long and i cant find a thing.

  1. The spleen is where blood cells go to die. I'm guessing the rat's is bigger because it's a more advanced animal. It is more highly vascularized so it will have more blood volume and need a bigger spleen.
