  1. Photolysis is the splitting of water by light in photosynthesis:-

    Water - H2O is split into 2 electrons + 2H+ and 1/2 O2.

    The oxygen is released to the atmosphere , the H+ are used to reduce NADP to NADPH which is used in the Calvin Cycle to reduce CO2 and the electrons are use to replace the electrons lost from chlorophyll a in photosystem 11 when exposed to light.
