Goop and such?

Paper mache piñatas. Use strips of newspaper in glue and water and lay them over balloon shapes.  It is cheap and more successful to find those packages of balloons that show you how to make animals, swords, or even cover paper towel stripes or empty toilet rolls to form shapes.  You must make several layers (cannot remember if it is 3-5 layers of newspaper strips)  Let dry and then paint to decorate.  Cut small hole near top to place candy.  The loop to hang also has to be stragically placed where the balloon tail is located and your animal is not upside down or something.  You get the idea. I would do it in the yard. Google it. Good luck.

My daughters enjoyed bead making or ceramic.

Something made of clay or pottery.  I bet there are some kind of clay material at Hobby Lobby that you can have them make the forms, bake, and then paint.

I once made a 3-D picture.  Glue and place different colors on sand on the square or rectange cardboard that fits your picture frame.  Place dried leaves, gunny sack material for a rustic home and the ruffle part of the cardboard box to form the roof and paint it.  Make fences out of flat toothpicks.  Or if they are small, then paint instead of sand and use stickers, pictures or buttons.
