  1. this belongs in the comic book section

  2. You have to remember that the ability of the VF series fighter to configure into Battloid or Soldier mode was directly related to the fact that the threats where 60ft tall giants.

As human warfare becomes more technology/automated centered and less human centered, our war craft will look more like microwaves and toasters from h**l.  After all, a drone does not need a cockpit.

I am a huge fan of Macross, but the reality of a Destroid walking around the modern battlefield is a little more than ridiculous.  Look at the capabilities of a 120mm APFSDS-T round and the armor requirements of a MBT such as the Abrams.  One tank needs to weigh 60+ tons to deploy and defend against that round.  This is clearly impractical for airframe.

It's highly unlikely that a walking talk will ever take to field in the next 25 years unless something happens to dictate the need.  Furthermore, it highly unlikely that any other country will ever catch up to the edge we have in military technology.

  3. i think you won't need humins flying them cumputers will

  4. Jets haven't really changed since the 1970s, because they have gone beyond the capability of the fighter pilot at -3G to +9 G.  That's why the U.S. has turned to stealth since missiles can out fly manned aircraft and have been doing so since the mid 70s.

To make matters worse, the ability to detect air movement rather than the craft itself has been around since the 1950s.  That means expensive stealth can be defeated by inexpensive technology.

I belive that armed  UAVs will be the replacement for the F-22s and F-35s

  5. Completely Unmanned Aerial Combat Vehicles

They're already in their early stages: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UCAV

Soon enough you'll have unmanned fighter jets shooting each other down, carrying out bombing missions and making Fighter pilots obsolete

Edit- Robotech Fighter Planes will never happen dude, you've been reading too many comics or whatever
