What is the general arab attidude towards africans?

am somali, and my family moved to a arab/pakistani flux neighborhood.

I felt excited, having fellow muslim brethern around me

but since I moved here I felt leered by the older men and some women. I have been called a Abd, which later I have found to mean Slave.

The younger generation seem friendly enough, but I'm guessing their being influenced by the some rude parents.

I don't get why I'm getting all this hostility, seeing that I'm as light skinned as they are and I'm a muslim as they are.

arabs are pretty racist towards "dark" skinned people. I have a buddy who's pakistani and his parents really despise me because i hang out with him. They think that black people have bad influence over the others. I agree that younger people are more friendly because they are open minded but older folks base their opinion on stereotype. It's usually the "african" background that they're really hostile towards. It's pretty stupid but I guess you can't change every single one of them.
