  1. The Urals Mountains are significant geographically because they serve as the dividing line between Europe and Asia.  They contain extensive amounts of iron ore, coal, and valuable minerals.  The Urals are also a major oil-producing area.

    One huge political significance is the Ural Mountains divide  Russia into the Western World (Europe) and the Eastern World (Asia).  Russia is able to influence two continents.
