  1. There are dozens of different azaleas, and each has a unique distribution.  Here's a list of the types of azalea (Genus Rhododendron) that are found in the US:  http://plants.usda.gov/java/nameSearch?k...  If you click on any of the scientific name links in blue, you'll get a page of info about that type including (usually) photos, drawings, and a range map of in which states each species grows.  If you click on any onf the states listed in the county distribution list, you cn even see a breakdown of the counties each species grows in within the state.  Then you can take your pick of all the types that exist.
