What is the going rate for babysitting these days??

Im 17 and IM babysitting my step dads sister her daughters kids .Well we dont know the going rate for babysitting does anyone know?

  1. it varies depending on the number of children, their temperament, and the level of involvement. the current rate is usually from around 5-15 $ / hour, but ask around for your particular area

    if the kids are older, and the sitter only needs to hang out and watch TV or make sure they do their homework, a lower-end rate is acceptable

    however, if there are multiple younger kids or an involved agenda (cooking dinner, giving baths, watching infants), 10$ should be the minimum

    if it is a sitter that you know well/watches your kids often, parents usually establish a rate that both parties are comfortable but for a new family, you should tell them the range and to pay according to what they feel is acceptable (rather than give a specific base rate)
