Im going into a business with a good friend of mine and we have bought a brand new van.The van has a high powered and high heat carpet cleaner and also a high pressure washer. My job of course is to get the business off the ground but I am struggling on how to charge for the services. We both have experience of course in the carpet cleaning as well as the pressure washing,is there some guidlines to go by >? Do you charge by the sq foot or just by the room?Any help would be greatly appreticated.

  1. Hard to say without knowing where you are and what kind of competition you have.  To give you an idea:  Here in the Detroit area (which is VERY competitive) you can get a deck power-washed for as little as $75.00 -- and that's for a pretty good-sized deck.  Roofs usually start at around $200.00 for a smallish roof because of the added risk of having to climb up and down.

Here's a tip:  Call around to local businesses and see what and how they charge.  That way you'll know the going rates in your area.  At least it'll give you a starting point...

  2. Got to have a min. charge. Some people just want 1 room done. 4 areas $99 Whole house $150-$175

Some people do charge by the sq. ft.

Powerwashing, I try to look at it as how long it's going to take. If it's a half a day I'll charge $150 & depending on the amount of spindles
