l think you've nailed it by your description its neither one but bits from both cars, its a trick so that advertising company's don't upset the car manufacturers, its clear in so many car adverts the one with the silver cars where they are all priced up individually is another example, if you look at them they are not clearly identifiable

It is cobbled together for advertising purposes... It is largely a BMW 3 series!!
