  1. The gravitational field is too weak to sustain an atmosphere, or water. That makes life difficult, to say the least.

  2. The moon just dosent have enough gravity to sustain an atmosphere similar to mars.  Also the moon is not large enough to have a molten core which creates a magnetic field to deflect harmful particles ejected by the sun (sometimes called the solar wind).

But just to clear up what Brian posted earlier, the moon is just the right distance from the sun to support life (as it orbits the Earth) and is also made of the same materials as the Earth meaning that if it were large enough to have an atmosphere it would be theoretically possible for the moon to support life.

  3. i don't know

but i've heard less gravity messes up your metabolism

and you have problems absorbing calcium....

    but who knows man

  4. well you need gravity to maintain a atmosphere... perhaps thats part of it

but i think the real cause of the absence of life on the moon is simply because... its not the right distance from the sun, on top of that it doesn't have the materials that earth has to create a primordial soup such as the one that existed on earth
