  1. Auckland NPC Teams.  Past and present.

  2. Well so far your all wrong!

The Australian Rugby League touring team of 1982 known as 'The Invincibles' came over here and battered us sensless including the frogs without losing a match.

The fitness levels, ball handling skills & back up play not to mention the defence was just incredible & set a totally new standard head & shoulders above everything else in the sport. THIS team would have walked over ANY union side playing them at their own game just on fitness & ball handling alone. No other RUGBY team dominated a sport with such finess and skill.

In mine opinion & many hundreds of thousands more this was and still is the greatest rugby team ever in either code.

    Coach was Frank Stanton

By the way winning percentage of 100%...no contest really

  3. In response to other submissions, I would have to agree that the All Blacks of the late 1980's was the greatest rugby team of the modern era. They played as a team and virtually dominated in all facets of the game.

In contrast the English team of 1998-2003 relied too heavily on Jonny Wilkinson with his penalties & conversions and as soon as he was injured they fell to pieces. During this era under the coaching of Clive Woodward (1997-2004), England had a winning percentage of 71% which is still a good effort. This included their largest ever win (Romania 134-0), while also their largest ever loss (Australia 76-0).

This is why I think that the All Blacks were the best rugby team in the modern era (the current All Blacks may be trying to emulate this feat).

  4. The greatest rugby team in rugby history so far in my humble opinion has got to be the 1987 All Blacks who not only won the first RWC but sucessfully defended their crown, 23 times ,without a lost until August 1990. No other rugby world cup holder has managed to do that. The coaches were Brian Lochore,Alex Wyllie and John Hart.

    Ka kite

  5. Whilst I may regret saying this but the England team before and including the 2003 RWC were brilliant.

They beat the 3 Southern Hemisphere teams something like 13 times in a row. This is something I can't see happening in the future. But the Final itself was the end of the team.

The Welsh team of the 70s were also awesome.

Pretty much any AB team is brilliant!

  6. i agree with hikuleo_faingamoevalu and Guy L
