  1. Over all Federer/ Nadal 2008.  Displays of best of the two best : brilliant passing shots, cross court rallies, enormous court coverages, intensity, no sign's of fatigue ?, varieties of shot making.... McEnroe vs Borg 1988 was an epic drama match, but I'd put it # 2 greatest.

isplays of the best of the two best, excellent cross court rallies, superior movement

  2. the mach on 2008 wimbledon final between nadal and federer, with the 1980 wimbledon final between mcenroe and borg(i think) being a close second. also when safin beat federer in that ozzie open match- epic!

  3. The greatest tennis match that I have seen is the Federer-Nadal Wimbledon final 2008.

Lot of things make this match special. It was played in severe conditions. Heavy wind, rain delays and it finished in near darkness.

There was a lot of history at stake no matter what the outcome of the match. Either Federer would create history by breaking Borg's record of 5 consecutive wins or Nadal would be the first man since Borg to win the French and Wimbledon in the same year.

Also this was the first match between two equals. Federer and Nadal went toe to toe in the match, with very little to choose between them. It almost seemed like a boxing match with some serious hitting.

And finally the fact that the match went to the wire in the 5th set and Nadal pulling it off 9-7 in near darkness. It was just too amazing

  4. the 2008 wimbledon final between nadal and federer, with the 1980 wimbledon final between mcenroe and borg(i think) being a close second. also when safin beat federer in that ozzie open match- epic!

  5. Well, Sundays Final no doubt has to be right up there. Along with 1980, McEnroe vs Borg, and one of my other personal favs, US Open where Sampras, was so sick, he threw up on court, twice, and yet motivated himself through weakness, dizziness, to pull out the victory. That showed true grit, determination, and a champion.
