  1. The greenhouse effect it the gathering of gasses in our atmosphere that are capturing the heat from sunlight and keeping it in our atmosphere, causing a warmer climate. The four main gasses responsible for this are carbon dioxide, water vapor, methane and ozone. If we had absolutely no greenhouse affect earth would be much, much cooler and life would most likely not be able to exist. The temperature would be about -18c on average.

    If it helps..

  3. The greenhouse effect is the release of carbon dioxide.

  4. Greenhouse effect is the process by which absorption and emission of IR radiations by atmospheric gases, warm the earth's lower atmosphere and surface. The main greenhouse gases are CO2,methane,ozone,water vapour and nitrous oxide.

The average temperature of the earth has been increased to 15 degree celcius from -18(minus 18) degree celcius because of the greenhouse effect. So,without it, the average temperature of the earth's surface would have been -18 degree celcius which will be definitly colder.Water vapour ,CO2 and ozone contribute about 36%,12% and 3% respectively to the greenhouse effect.

  5. The greenhouse effect is the release of carbon dioxide and other gases into the atmosphere. The condition on the earth would not have a warming trend.

  6. "what is the greenhouse effect?"

It is the trapping of infrared radiation in the troposphere (the lower part of the Earth's atmosphere) by greenhouse gases.  The infrared radiation is given off by the Earth and without the greenhouse effect it would be radiated out into space.  So the fact that some of it gets trapped in the atmosphere instead of going off into space keeps the atmosphere warmer than it would otherwise be.

"what gases are responsible for it?"

Any complex molecules (as they can absorb infrared radiation in vibrational and rotational modes) but mainly water vapour (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4).

"how would conditions on the surface of the earth be different without it?"

Without the greenhouse effect, the surface temperature of the Earth would be about 30 degrees colder than it is today.

    Hope this helps!
