  1. Personally, I would say it's "Mary Jane" at Winter Park which has the reputation for having the best mogul skiing in North America. I've personally skied the "back bowls" in Vail, CO & they are also very difficult. I've also skied "Mary Jane" in Winter Park &a lot ofo other areas in the Rockies. Have fun & make sure you check the conditions before you ski these areas. It's worthless to ski these areas when it's icy but they're the best when there's powder.

  2. There is really no 'hardest run' if you are referring to the entirety of the rockies. If you are referring strictly to runs at resorts, then perhaps something like Delirium dive at Sunshine (banff) could be considered one of the harder ones.

I have done a fair bit of backcountry skiing from kananaskis to jasper, a 'hard run' is totally relative to your own ability and comfort level.

  3. Shoo Fly at Mary Jane.  Skiers left near the tress kills it!!!

  4. There is no "hardest" ski trail in the Rockies.  It's all subjective and open to people's opinions.

  5. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion. Personally I think it is Dead-end Chutes or Hour Glass in Crested Butte. Why? Because Dead-end Chutes dead ends into cliffs and Hour Glass is only open during the extreme compitition to the best skiers in the world. I think steeps, trees, rocks and moguls make for some of the most difficult terrain in the rockies. Hope I help and personally, whatever run you are on at that time is the most difficult run. Have fun and ski hard!!!

  6. I like Pallavacini at Arapahoe Basin.  Open steeps funneling into narrow chutes.  Al's run at Taos is pretty intense too.  Alta in Utah.

  7. Try Silverton Mountain or any of the back country in the surrounding area. My next favorite is the back country around Crested Butte. Back country skiing is as hard as you want it to be.  Just have the proper gear and know how to read an avalanche report.

  8. Official areas: anywhere on Silverton Mountain, Crested Butte, Taos, Jackson Hole

Unofficial areas: Take your pick from anywhere in the backcountry. You can find stuff that's as hard as you want, all the way up to runs that you will either make it down or die trying.
