I thought it was just a pound ($2) in some charity tobmola, but we went to Las Vegas a few years back, and I lost almost $80 on Black Jack and $20 on one-armed-bandits.

We took $160 down to Mesquite over the summer (it's an hour from Vegas) and lost it all... but I only had the $75 to myself and lost it.

I was playing a table where a guy threw down $500 and lost it all, then threw down $150 and won back about $300 .. that's when you know you're playing big! He kept saying "go big or go home" ..so we went home lol

In somewhere around 1971, I won 2 jackpots amounting to about £35 on a slot machine one lunchtime.  

It paid up in 6d pieces (about 2.05p = 1.400 coins, if my memory gets it right!) which I had to take to the Bank. And as a result got back late from lunch.  My boss just grinned and said something like 'Try not to let it happen again'.

I've only twice paid £1 for lottery tickets since.
