I'm currently running a 56/11 high gear, so it can be done. Vuelta makes chainrings for 130 BCD up to 60 teeth. If you go too much over 53T, you may have to install a bigger small chainring or risk going past your front deraileur's capacity.

If you have a freewheel, 14T and 13T high gears are easy to find, 12T is hard, and 11T may not even exist.

53 is about the biggest that can be fitted on modern cranks. There might be something bigger but by doing so you'll also have to reset the front derailleur and lengthen the chain. Worst case scenario you'd also have to REPLACE the front and rear derailleur.

Instead, think about smaller gears in the back. Freewheels can go down to 13T and cassettes can go down to 11T... since you didn't menation what bike you have it's difficult to determine what you have back there.
