  1. 15-25 mph (25-40 km/h) in a school zone, depending on the state law

    25–35 mph (40–55 km/h) on residential streets

    35–45 mph (55–70 km/h) on urban arterial roads

    50–65 mph (80–105 km/h) on major highways inside cities

    45–65 mph (70–105 km/h) on rural two-lane roads

    55–70 mph (90–110 km/h) on rural expressways

    65–80 mph (105–130 km/h) on rural Interstate highways  


  2. Fastest POSTED speed limit that I know of is 65. It used to be 55 on interstates but the Federal Govt allowed it to be raised to 65.
