I have read somewhere that it'll do HD... not sure what exactly that means. I mean, what is the reason to buy a P2 card if you have this FireStore device? I clearly am missing something....

  1. who cares

    read the manual!

  2. the resolution is set by the camera not the recorder. DV and HDV is 25 mbps which is the data rate that the firestore accepts. Panasonic DVCpro camera has a 50 mbpsHD option for better definition. The firestore can also handle that faster data rate. The firestore is not included with the Panasonic camera which is why you might chose to go with the 16 Gig P2 card which is included at no extra cost. Firestore is a hard drive that connects to the camera through the DV cable, and is useful for people want to go tapeless and don't mind dragging around an external drive. Another feature of the firestore is it converts the DV stream to ready to edit AVI format files that your computer can access immediately.
