  1. 800 is the highest you can get.

480 isn't all that hot.  If you have the opportunity to retake it, I'd do so.

  2. 800 is the highest score.

    Sorry :-(

I hear that the language SAT 2s have harshest curves of any SAT test since many native speakers take them and easily get perfect or near-perfect scores.

  3. Anything above a 600 is decent and anything above a 700 is good. But it depends on the test though. Like more than 50% of the people that take SAT II Chinese get 800. But SAT II Lit and Writing have much lower average scores. Just take some more and try to get above 600 on at least 2.

  4. Well for starters the SAT II Subject Test has a maximum score of an 800, with a minimum score of somewhere in the mid-to-high 200s. It depends on the test. In your case, Spanish (I am assuming without listening), the minimum is around 240. In Spanish with listening the minimum is the same, 240 (in others like Chinese with listening the minimum is 350, and in some like Physics it's 300). It depends on the test. Now, looking at your scores, a 480 is in the 14th percentile, meaning that you scored higher than 14 out of 100 people that took the test. If you took Spanish with listening, you scored in the 10th percentile, meaning that you scored higher than 10 out of 100 people that took the test. All of these percentiles can be found on the back of the SAT Score Report, mailed to you a few weeks after your SAT scores are available online. So, if you were looking to go to Yale, then yes this would be a poor SAT Subject Test that could affect your chances of admission. If you were not looking at the Ivy League or comprable level, this still would be a low score to them, but would not be as harmful to your application. Many of those schools don't really care about SAT Subject Tests and more or less disregard them. Therefore, if you are striving for the Ivies, then you will have to retake that test. If you are planning on a less competitive school, it really doesn't matter what your score is. Still, I would recommend buying a test prep book (such as a Kaplan or Princeton Review Book) and study it to help your score. You can improve it, but it will take time and effort. Still, it itsn't bad if you can improve it. Good luck and don't be discouraged, for you can improve.

  5. 800 is the highest score
