What is the history behind the dislike between Manchester Utd. fans & Liverpool fans?

Its down to sheer RIVALRY! They have been the biggest  and most successful clubs in England since jesus was a Boy!

Both wants do put one over on the other, its healthy competition!

hate ?? not from me bud a good healthy dislike of liverpool fc but you can put that down to football rivalry.. i dont dislike the fans.. some of the liverpool fans on here i admire and enjoy bantering with them.. ok there are one or two pillocks but all clubs have them dont they..and i have great fun with the liverpool fans  in the real world ..

Both club are very successful and both wanna be the top. And its not help by the fact that liverpool and manchester are located quite close to each other as well! So there's rivalry, wont say its hate. My bro is a manu fan but im a liverpool fan... I still hate manu thou...
