  1. One day back in the mid 60s a guy names Sal forgot to eat breakfast so he ate lunch at 11am...threw a piece of melon in with his ravioli and called it brunch.

  2. It is for the NORMAL people in the world who want to sleep in and still eat breakfast when they get up.  Who wants to get up at 7 am on a Sunday to eat?  Not me!  I want an omelet at noon!

I also heard it is so people can eat breakfast after church.

According to the food historians, brunch is a turn of the 19th/20th century tradition originating in Britain. It is generally founded on the same principles of leisured priviledge. That may explain the American popular tradition of Mother’s day brunch . What better way to show mom how much she means to the family than by elevating her status to this elite level? It’s as much about the food as it is about the time it takes to enjoy the meal

  3. Basically that is what it is, it is when you get up to late for breakfast, and it's not time for lunch, so brunch was devised.

I don't know who came up with the word, I'm sure you can go to Wikipedia and check it out and get all the info and I'm sure they will tell you who came up with the name, but it's just a meal to fill in when you didn't have breakfast and are hungry and want to eat before lunch.  Usually used for weekends

  4. I'm guessing a bunch of guys got tired of waiting *hours* until they could eat again, so they fused the two meals together calling their creation "Brunch" just to sound legit. But some time after I told  the Old ladies took it over, making it the preferred time for a Tea Party. And you *do not* cross Old Ladies when it come to their Tea time. Slap you into tomorrow, is what they'll do.*smile*

  5. It was started by the Benedict's chain in Times Square as a way to sell their eggs and left over Hollandaise sauce from the night before.
