Ive recently bought a swiss Army Knife for my backpacking trip. I have the 'Motorist' model (blue and ltd edition) ive noticed that it has a hook (as do some of the other models)

what on earth would i use the hook for? its kind of chunky and not at all slim so i couldnt try and fish things out with it im sure...can anyone give me an idea as to how it would be used/in what circumstances?

It may be an odd question and the answer may be obvious to everyone but me, however i fail to see the use of it!!!

  1. Lol  It's a bottle opener.  plain and simple.

  2. Horseshoes is a good use, Im thinking animal skinning. A small gouge hook on the back of a blade can help skin all sorts of game.

  3. carring shopping bags like the ones forom tesco the cheap plastic one you can many on the hook the main part of the knife is sed as a handle for a better grip

  4. wow that looks the ideal hook to get a stone out of horses hooves. failing that maybe you could use it to tighten the laces on your walking boots

  5. If it is on the back side of a Victorinox Swiss Army knife it is a multi use parcel carrier.  It was designed to carry a parcel by the string that they were traditionally wrapped it.  It can also be used to open a knot and some other minor uses.  It is a lesser utilized tool on a Swiss Army Knife.

  6. I think its something to do with horse shoes and cleaning them out?
