  1. Regarding the surgery to Tueflesburg, the two sesamoid bones are in the same leg. Sesamoids are in pairs, so the fact that he's having surgery on both sesamoids doesn't mean he's having surgery in both legs. The two bones are located behind the ankle joint, and provide support to the ankle.

  2. Serious sesamoid injuries, and he will have surgery on both front legs next week. The good news is they aren't giving up on Teuflesberg, the bad news is it's on two legs.

  3. Teuflesberg is having surgery on his front two sesamoid bones. He will be retired to pasture after his surgery. Too bad, I liked Teuflesberg!

If you want to keep up with the Teuflesburg saga you can check this website - http://thoroughbredchampions.com/forum/i... - lots of people keeping him in their hearts.

Edited to add - here's an article from Tuesday (10-9) which says he's scheduled for surgery on Thursday.

  5. Tueflesberg came through the surgery just fine and is making a good recovery. If everything goes according to plan he should be able to to stud duty next year. To find out more go to www.bloodhorse.com or www.thoroughbredtimes.com

  6. He fractured two sesamoid bones. He is scheduled for surgery and they have given him a 75% chance that he will live. He won't race again but they are hoping he can be used for breeding.
