What is the hour before dawn know as?

It's the title of a movie, a book, and also a song by one of my favorite Irish bands, Solas.

Otherwise, if you mean the time of day, I'd call the hour before dawn night.  Though technically, since midnight strikes the beginning of a new day, I guess it would be early morning.

In Winter Solstice folklore, it is said that the darkest hour is the hour before dawn on Yule.
