Considering its a physical job where they are up early and out when its cold and wet carrying a heavy bag - plus many make a positive contribution to the local community such as looking out for the elderly and odd things happening (a kind of beat bobby even).

Is there not a London allowance for higher living costs?

I would be happy to pay an extra 2p per letter - as long as it goes to those that do the real work.
