  1. Despite their dog-like appearance, hyenas are actually more closely related to cats than to dogs. They belong to their own family, the Hyaenidae, which is placed on the Feliformia (cat-like) branch of the order Carnivora. There are three hyena species, the spotted hyena (Crocuta crocuta), the striped hyena (Hyaena hyaena) and the brown hyena (Hyaena brunnea), plus their relative, the aardwolf (Proteles cristatus). Here's an image of each:

All four species are native to Africa, with the striped hyena also ranging across parts of Asia. Though often thought of solely as scavengers, hyenas are good hunters in their own right, particularly the spotted hyena, which is capable of taking down large prey such as zebra and wildebeest by working as a team. They will scavenge when they get a chance, but so will most carnivores - lions steal hyenas' kills as often as vice versa. The aardwolf feeds almost exclusively on termites, and lacks the powerful bone-cracking jaws of its relatives.

Spotted hyenas live in large clans of up to 80 individuals (though 30-40 is most common). Females are larger than males and dominate them in all aspects of their society - even the lowest-ranked female is dominant over the highest-ranked male. Rank is inherited from the mother, so the cubs of a high-ranking female are able to bully adults of lower rank. These animals were once thought to be hermaphrodites, since the female's genitals appear very similar to those of males. Females have an enlarged clitoris almost the same size and shape as the male's p***s (it's often called a pseudopenis), and they have 'pseudotestes' - fatty lumps blocking the entrance to the v****a that resemble testes. Because of these, females are obliged to mate and give birth through the clitoris - it often splits during birth, which can sometimes result in the death of the mother.

Striped and brown hyenas, and aardwolves, do not have these unusual adaptations. In these species, males are larger than females and females have 'normal' genitalia. They live in small family groups.

  2. A hyena is a dog-like animal related to a group of animals called civets. they both hunt and scavenge, it is one of Africa's predators, also, animals eat the calcium filled p**p because they eat a lot of bones. The male is not dominant and the s*x organs are hard to distinguish.

P.S. sorry I can't get your pics and vids, but type in hyena and you'll find some.
