  1. probably changes sin function to hyperbolic sin function, sinh, and same for other trig functions.

  2. Everyday use trig functions are based on a circle such as sine, cosine, and tangent, while there are other forms of trig functions that are based on a hyperbola.  These functions are used in engineering and physics such as electronics (Laplace's equation), electromagnetic theory, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, special relativity, etc.

  3. There are some functions that follow the hyperbolic curve.  The curve made by a power cable as it sags in the middle is a hyperbolic function.  The world is full of them, and some integral solutions are hyperbolic functions, without themselves being hyperbolic.

Just know there is someone out there that appreciates nature and the hyperbolic function- but it ain't me!

  4. This just means hyperbolic functions such as hyperbolic sin (sinh), hyperbolic cosine (cosh) and hyperbolic tangent (tanh).  With more advanced engineering problems, these types of functions are the solutions to the equations.
