  1. Theres no Ideal height. The best runner in my school is 4ft 3in. and another really good one is 6ft 3in. So theres no ideal height or weight, the weioght is usually gonna be heavier because of muscle. I weigh 125lbs. and a girl 8inches bigger in the waistlin is 115lbs. the difference is the amount of muscle and the amount of fat.

  2. It can vary

El Guerroj current world record holder is 58kg (128lb) and 1.75m (5' 9")

Sebastian Coe (former world record holder) also was 58kg amd 1.76m

but John Walker (former world record holder and first man under 3:50) was 74kg (163)  and 1.83m (6')

Craig Mottram (Australian record holder and sub 13 minutes for 5k) is 72kg (158 lb) and 1.88m (6' 2")

Here's a somewhat controversial article about height/weight and performance.
