What is the ideal-sized family?

Question

I was wondering what people today consider the ideal sized family.

If you want, you could answer both realistically and then, answer ideally (in a perfect world without population or financial issues).

I'm curious.

My first answer is 4 - mom, dad, sister and brother. More thoughts may change my number or may be not. But most important in any ideal family (intentionally removed "-sized") is the love, bonding and good values. If you think, you can have possibly this (or better definition of family in size X... then you know what X is :).

ideal- Working father, stay at home mom, two kids... boy and girl

Realistic- Single mom, bum Dad, two teenagers who dont listen for c**p... 2 younger kids who run around with dirty diapers all day.

I think it'll be great to have just kids of the both sexes. :)

This will enable them to grow up in a family where the child is able to interact with the opposite s*x and of course, to be able to socialise more. :)

If human can decide on the sexes of the child before birth, I guess, I'll pick 2, a boy and a girl. :) Not having more than that because then, they won't start saying "oh, it's not fair, mom loves bro more than me or whatever..." there'll be more time for the parents and the kids and of course, parents can focus on the kids...

2 in total, 1 of each will be ideal, i guess.

the average size family has shrunk in the past years because people have gotten a lot more selfish

I don't think there is one answer for this as the varables change with each couple which makes it an ideal size for them.

For your average North American family, I believe two children (plus Mom & Dad) for a total of 4 is an ideal size family.

Your average 3 bedroom home works, an average car works (as soon as you have 3 children, the average size car is too small if you want to be safe).

In the perfect world where money does not count, many children are better and the more the parents are willing to put up with children, the larger an ideal size family would be.

IDK.. i would say about 4 or 5
