  1. It will put demand on the infrastructure in more areas other than just runways and gates. Baggage handling, customs, and immigration will also have to be beefed up to handle the swarm of people when the 380 arrives at its destination. My prediction is that most of the 380 sales will be in Asia.

  2. It's a financial White Elephant, and will flop.  So if anyone has Airbus stock, sell now.

Not all international airports are going to modify their jetways to accommodate this thing.  It's not terribly fuel efficient compared to the Boeing Dreamliner, which is lighter, half the number of engines, and faster.  It may not carry as many passengers, but it can fly into ALL airports.

The first time an A380 crashes with a full load of passengers, that will mark the end of the aircraft.

  3. Sometimes it better and cleaner to carry more passengers over long distances in one flight than breaking them down into lets say 2x787 or 2xA330,

Due to the large usable space Airlines can fit in more premium class stuff like SIA's suites and still have enough space to carry large amount of passengers thereby maintaining a cleaner flight.

Its setting standards on airplane comfort cus its the quietest thing flying by far both inside and out, so any Airplane coming after it would have to be quieter.

  4. An exponential increase in the number of dissatisfied air travelers.  In effect, Airbus has bet their company on the premise that the airline industry will continue to follow a hub and spoke model.  Clearly, the only major US carrier that is consistently profitable is Southwest, which flies direct.  Boeing has bet THEIR company on the direct flight model.  Go ahead, ask me if I'd rather fly direct from Austin to Kansas City, or would I rather stop in Dallas for an hour.  It's neat and all that they built a plane thatbig, but they need to sell a ton of them to turn a profit and my guess is that only a few Asian airlines that either need to move a gazillion people at once or want to provide ultra-luxury long-haul transport for the elite travelers will actually buy one.

  5. Delusions.......you are misinformed,In July 2007, the FAA and EASA agreed to let the A380 operate on 150 ft wide runways without restrictions

The A380 was designed to fit within an 80 × 80 m airport gate, and can land or take off on any runway that can accommodate a Boeing 747.

  6. To delusions of Grandeur - Typcal American answer, biggest thing in market is not American so they make an odd excuse like runways are not big enough. Make them wider then. Although I hear Americans dislike change.

  7. I think it will be good for our environment, for the A380 flies more passengers than smaller planes. Unlike the 787 which uses about the same fuel (Because they are of the same trip length) the A380 is more fuel efficient because it flies half more than the 787 does in just one trip.

  8. the impacts are rather positive than negative the number trips need to be made to the same destination is reduced thus reducing the amount of air pollution as well as the fuel wastage but yes a lot of safety measures ought to be taken cos one accident would cost the lives of many people

  9. It doesn't matter because it is too large to fit on American runways.  Airbus made a stupid mistake, but they are going to be ok, you know why?  Cause the French government will bail them out.  You know what plane WILL impact the airline industry?  The Boeing 7E7, I think that's what there calling it.  It is so effiecient that it can fly half way around the world without stopping.  It can  connect ANY two cities in one flight.

  10. Grommit-Delusions should get a room.

Yes, the biggest impact will be in Asia, which was the target market in the first place.

Its impact will be to reduce operation costs and per passenger costs dramatically.

The only problem is getting the French to play nice with the Germans and make the bloody thing.

airbus is sinking a lot into infrastructure to create the larges supply chains in the world and is staking a lot on it.  h**l the fuselage has to be lifte with a blimp in some  places just to get it to the assembly bldg.

too wierd.  I lilke the competition.....now if the russians ever get thier head out........look out.
