  1. to those who cant distinguish fantisy from reality it is rather grim. im sure that nurse ratchet exists somewhere but she or they are not the norm.

  2. the book was written by a man who worked in a mental institution at the night shift. the characters were fictional but you can imagine his ideas and  were based on real observation. with a story line added.THe  controling nurse, the orderlies, the normal guy labeled insane. i believe the nurse was threatened by an inmate and she had ti remove him from the scene, i believe she at a is a control freak and a perfect example of what nursing isnt suppose to represent. but a perfect  representative of an obsesive compulsive disorder.

  3. you can't be serious! there is no implication. this was a script written by some hollywood shmuck and the director took it and twisted it to be more sadistic because if it told the truth no one would care to see what goes on in those facilites.  True the nursing field then had very little rights for patients but now it all comes down to money the sooner the patients are out the more the hospital gets paid so patients do not stay there long enough to succomb to any form of abuse.  they come in get there 3 Hots and a cot and all the opiates and sedatives they can they are off to the next facility and are long forgotten by the staff by the time the taxi door hits them in the ***.  I am sending this answer from the very facility you are so discussing.  would i have to do so if it were like those you forsee

  4. It shows a truly sadistic side of nursing, that has been proven to exist,

I think we are all thankful that it is not more frequent,  but nurses have been charged and convicted with even murder,  and nursing home abuse is rampant,  so nurses are not all angels and not all perfect,

I think the movie brought the activities of some nurses to the front and let them be open to discussion,  which is always a good thing,

    good luck  ;)
