  1. "Conventional" plastics which are made from a hydrocarbon base, such as polyethene are virtually non-biodegradable. This results in a serious waste disposal;and pollution problem. There has therefore been a lot of technical effort to find a substituts plastic for packaging etc. Plastics made from a stach base have shown a lot of promise. Cassava would be a good source of this starch.


  2. the importance of biodegradable plastics are as follows:

    1. it can decompose meaning it can be the possible solution for the worsening of global warming

    2. it can serve as an alternative for non biodegradable plastics which causes floods.
