  1. -understanding: child needs to understand what you are asking them or telling them so you need to be clear: speak clearly, maintain eye contact/be at their level and keep it simple and short.

    -self-esteem: if they feel they cant understand you then they feel they are failing, are lost etc and so may not develop confidently and start falling behind.

    -Support them learning the language: for them to be able to use English they need to know how to pronounciate words and structure sentences...if you are not making yourself clear then they wil not learn correctly nouns and verbs.

    -Inclusion-every child has a right to be inclouded in activities and games and so you need to be clear with them to enable them to particpate confidently.

    -Relationship: if the child feels they cant understand you then you won't make a relationship with them-as Bowlby and many other theorists discuss key persons/adults are important for children to be emotionally stable and to develop educationally.


  2. Make sure that one is bi or multilingual one's self.
