  1.  for research, and so that the native species of that country can continue breeding and surviving, as most of them are found in the forests. without the forests, you lose these animals, and there would be a hole in our ecosystem, and the whole society would be affected.

    A forest is a biotic community which is predominantly composed of trees, shrubs or any other woody vegetation and is usually a closed canopy.

    Importance of Forests
    1. It provides us with valuable items like timber, paper, fuel, wood, bamboos, food.

    2. Forest plants provide hundreds of drugs, spices, poisons, insecticides, ornamental seed rudraksha, soap substitutes like ritha and shikakai, tendu leaves used in bidi wrapping.
    3. They provide shelter to the rich fauna.

    4. The maintain constancy to the rich fauna.

    5. Forests protect the environment as they prevent soil erosion. The roots of plants firmly bind the soil. They provide shade which prevent the soil to become too dry.

    6. In forest the dead leaves contribute to humus formation increasing the fertility of soil
    7. Forests absorb CO2 and collect suspended particles thereby reducing pollution.

    8. They contribute to study and research in different branches of fundamental and applied sciences.

    9. Forest add to the aesthetic value of earth-green environment.

    According to Central Forestry Commission forests in India cover 22.7% of land area. India has 16 recognised forest types having a great diversity.
