What is the importance of opinion writing in politics today?

Question

I think it is harder and harder to find unbiased news and level headed reporting. Two extremes are fox news and NPR public radio/TV, its getting harder to figure out what actually happened. Since "news" is opinion anyway I have recently been looking at the "What happened" lines of the www.theweekdaily.com which is an opinion paper or newsletter but i at least feel i get the basics without it being adjusted or twisted. What are peoples favorite current event sources on the internet?

to get the pictures that is not on cnn on fox news.  the pictures that is on cnn and fox news is propaganda......**** israel

Seriously, I do not have one source I can quote that I use on the web but my Grandfather was from Ireland and then Canada, then here in the US.  he always told me to read news from multiple sources, foreign domestic, right wing and left...then judge for yourself; what makes the most sense logically from a human point of view.  Foreign countries are not the only ones that are spreading propaganda!  

So I try and rotate it around, I listen to the US national news usually daily, I very from Fox to CNN, I listen to Rush and also listen to very liberal talk and local African American talk radio.

then listen to the BBC, Canadian, and German  news reports (only about once a week); (all on cable).  Then occasionally I read Vatican or Catholic news, Israel reports, Cuban and Mexican and such on the Web for specific topics.  All these are reported or translated into English.  You would be surprised at the different points of view these agencies all have.
