  1. There are some diseases that racial and religious groups are prone to as a result of their specific genetic makeup and/or cultural habits.

Ignoring those facts could lead a person in a healthcare role to misdiagnose an affliction losing vital time in treatment.

  2. the importance of it , is so that you can offer a diverse service which enables and promotes choice and Independence.

  3. Different people have different needs, for instance, if preparing food for someone, it helps to know if the person has a certain food restriction due to religious or other beliefs (vegetarians etc). Certain religions have restrictions on who can see them undressed. Others have requirements as to what s*x doctor they require for certain intimate examinations. If a person dies, some death rituals are specialised. It is therefore very important to recognise that people have different requirements that need to be respected.

  4. Differences produce different attitudes, beliefs, and experiences within a larger society...catering to only one group or majority fails to take all others into consideration and overgeneralizes the practices and procedures as being universally acceptable and just.  No recognition of diversity would seemingly devalue the rights of individuals belonging to non-majority groups; thus producing a privilege system in favor of the majority... health care and social care are to be provided equally for those eligible, which means diverse populations within our larger culture.

  5. I think recognizing diversity is important for any setting. You need to realize that people are different, and that is not a bad thing. You should also realize that not all of your customs or beliefs are that of the other person. Diversity should be embraced, not ignored. I think that is why it is important.

  6. if i was going to be really cynical i would say because it means the political correctness brigade could tick their little check boxes.

  7. All people are equal. The law of the land in which they are living or have chosen to live as got to be obeyed. Also the customs of that land should be followed.

The catch all excuse of "BECAUSE I AM DIFFERENT I NEED SPECIAL TREATMENT" is not good for any country or people. Treat everyone the same and do your job the best way you can no matter what the differences in appearance.
