Especially important!  Research is how educators find out more about their field of work.  I believe it is important for all teachers (and other educators) to keep up-to-date on the latest teaching strategies and methodologies.  Like with any other job, it is important to keep up with current "technology".  If not, you will be left in the dust and the school will find another teacher who is willing to put in the extra effort to stay ahead of the game.
