  1. The Ganges is said to flow from the head of Shiva who captured Gangadevi in his tresses to stop her from falling to earth.  It is believed that those who wash their bodies in Ganges will become pure and have all their sins removed.  

    Yup, with the amount of trash and garbage and filth that flows through the river, I am sure anyone who bathes in it will never have to worry about sin because they will be gone.  It is one of the filthiest rivers in the world.
